Every time I turn on the television or scroll through the internet news section, I see news about coronavirus. Especially the headings are so daunting that puts you in a constant state of fear. This fear doesn’t protect you from COVID-19 but it does disrupt your mental status to a degree that you start to feel sick.
There headlines are really daunting,
The fear is so much embedded in us that a small cough in public raised so many eye-brows.
I was walking down the road the other day when I felt like coughing. I remember the level of awareness I had of my surroundings at that time. It’s like continuously living in a place where every move you make is going to be judged and acted upon. These are scary times.
COVID-19 Can Be Prevented Easily
I’ve travelled to Delhi recently and have been into crowded places (before you judge me, it was a necessity). I’m still unaffected. And so can you.
You just have to keep in mind a few guidelines. These guidelines are being circulated on every channel continuously. You might have read or heard it in news, apps, announcements etc. And I can vouch that if you follow these guidelines religiously, you will be safe.
Install Arogya Setu App on your mobile
This is a very useful app in such hard times. And I really appreciate the efforts.
This app can help you track dangerous zones so that you can be aware of your surroundings and take special care when entering these zones.
Safety Kit
Keep your safety kit with you 24X7. And that includes,
- N-95 Masks
- Sanitizers
- Face Shields (If you are going to be in close proximity with people)
- Hand Gloves
You should make sure that you keep your safety kit with you all the time. And frequently use hand sanitizer. Also avoid touching your face.
In case you have got an itch, make sure you sanitize your hand before touching your face.
Social Distancing
I have been up for social distancing even before the pandemic.
Whenever I stepped outside, I made sure to make a safe distance between me and the stranger. I never went any closer than required. Not even when I have to talk to that person. I always used to maintain distance.
And this pandemic is teaching us the same forcefully. The more you keep yourself distant from the strangers the less you are prone to catch the virus (and vice-versa).
I understand that in a crowded place it is very difficult to maintain a 6-feet distance. But still you can avoid touching the other person. You can always chose to stand 1 feet apart when standing in a queue. You can always avoid contact. And in a rare case if there’s no way to maintain distance, then try to avoid bringing your faced together.
By following these guidelines, you reduce the chance to catch the virus by 99%.
Your awareness is your weapon against the virus.
